Is there a French equivilant of the Citizen's Advice Bureau (in English) that could supply free legal advice?

It's not really 'legal advice' I'm after, I just wanted to confirm that a 'law' I've heard about is in fact a law here in France but I was hoping for an official reference of some sort.Is there a French equivilant of the Citizen's Advice Bureau (in English) that could supply free legal advice?
