I am 18 and want to travel europe/UK. Want to do contiki but also do my own roaming and have free time, advice?

I have family in UK i would love to stay with for a while, wondering about how much a passport is, and whether i should be getting a return airfair or just a one way and possibly get a job. I dont intend on being there for more then 6 weeks. And i'll be travelling on my own. Any advice much appreciated!!!I am 18 and want to travel europe/UK. a passport is about $100 plus if you don't have a good picture that is the required size to give them you will need to get your picture taken at the place you apply for it and that costs an extra $12.

you can apply at most post offices thats where i applied.

get a roundtrip ticket.

and i'm not sure why you would get a job over there if you will only be there for 6 weeks at most.

first thats really not enough time to get much money and not a hell of a lot of time for the employer to even process the paper work.

second why would you want to have to get up and go to work when you are 1 on vacation and 2 you really have no need to.

don't you want to take your time and site see and relax and visit with your family .I am 18 and want to travel europe/UK. Want to do contiki but also do my own roaming and have free time, advice?
I did Contiki through Europe about 10 years ago. It's good fun and probably great for someone your age as it's a good party atmosphere if you like the rest of the people on your trip. I found it a bit disappointing though, as I felt like we were just looking at one interesting building after another and not really soaking up the culture. If you choose to Contiki, make sure you take enough extra $ with you to do all the extra excursions. It might also be better to take one of the more leisurely trips - say 8 days doing 2-3 countries rather than 14 days doing 10. Basically, just make sure you choose one where you have a bit of free time to do your own exploring, and narrow down your plan to the countries you REALLY want to visit.
Go to www.courier.com and register as a Courier. You will deliver a package, to a Bank, Law Firm, etc (this is legal) and for doing it you will get a great price on a round trip ticket. Pick, say Paris, as you can go to England through the Chunnel. Look into a 60/90/120 day Euro-rail Pass. The RR lines go from Greenland to the Caspian sea and out. Look into qualifications for staying at youth Hostels where 4 hours of work gets you a meal and a bed. Do your homework. GL
it will be expensive but where theres a will theres a way,, go for it! look at connecting flights it will be a hassal but could be cheaper. for example flying from atlanta to oklahoma would be more expenseive then flying from atlanta to dallas and get on a connecting flight to oklahoma just make sure its all worked out on your airfare, good luck
passport is about 100 dollars, and i would get a roundtrip ticket
