Is there any place to get FREE credit repair advice?

I don't need someone to DO anything for me, just give me advice on what ~I~ can do to improve my credit (ie: should I file bankruptcy?) My credit report is NOT inaccurate, it's just bad!Is there any place to get FREE credit repair advice?
Making the decision to file bankruptcy should never be based on someone elses opinion.

As far as learning your rights in how to deal with collectors, CRA's, etc. and learning about bankruptcy (how to file, what is needed, how it will affect you, etc) there are a few free credit discussion boards that you can do some reading in and ask questions that you may have. (never use a site that requires payment for ';any'; information they offer)

The best two free credit discussion sites on the web are:

How exactly can you repair your credit? Here are the simple steps in repairing your credit by yourself. The first step in repairing your credit is to get your credit reports and review them. It is better to obtain credit reports from more than one credit bureau%26lt;!--and get reports from the bureaus that are well-known and reputable in your country. The difference is that these credit bureaus are most likely the ones from which companies will get your records.

When you are reviewing your records, list all the items that you think will not look well on your records. Aside from simply listing down these items, as you run through them, come up with reasons why you are disputing them. When you dispute these items with the credit bureau--%26gt;you will need to give a reason why you are doing so.Once you have identified which items you want to dispute, and why, you can write a dispute letter to the credit bureaus.
Go to www.ezinearticle.com and do a search for credit repair. You will find dozens of articles with lots of good advice.
Go to daveramsey.com and listen to his radio show. He has lots of good advice on money and debt. It doesnt cost a dime to listen.
Filing bankruptcy will certainly not improve your poor credit report (if that is what you were planning on doing).

The only real ethical and legal way to repair credit is to have any inaccuracies disputed and removed. If the negative items on your credit report are accurate, then really the only thing that you can do is wait for them to fall off. In the mean time, the single most important thing you can do is pay all bills on time. Payment history is the single biggest factor that lenders look at. I would also encourage you to limit the amount of credit (debt) that you use, with a recommendation of not to even borrow money. I have made a resolution to not borrow money for anything except for a home. Since I don't use debt, I won't ever be IN debt.
