We have mold in our apt, we live in TX, can I be relocated for free? Need legal advice?

I think it's black mold, can I have the property owners pay for my move? Is there free legal consultation? We have mold in our apt, we live in TX, can I be relocated for free? Need legal advice?
First you need to contact you local health department to have the mold tested. If the health department does not have you immediately vacate the premises, you need to contact the landlord so he may remedy the situation. And...no you can't have the owners pay for your move unless you take them to court first....proving that they failed to take necessary action to correct the problem. We have mold in our apt, we live in TX, can I be relocated for free? If you are in a apartment in Texas then you are most likely under the TAA Lease. Your lease should contain a Mold Information and Prevention Addendum.

This should explain about mold. It also tells you how to prevent and avoid mold growth and how to clean exsisting mold.

Have you even contacted the owners/management about the problem?

Black mold is the buzz word and everytime someone sees mold them call it black mold.

It is not solely the owners responsibility to clean up mold in your apartment.

We will check the problem,if it is reported, and advise the resident on what to use to clean the problem.

With Texas weather mold is common and rarely black mold.

You need to advise in writting that you have mold in your apartment and would like some advice on what to do.

I would not start contacting every agency in the county until you first consult owners or management. If black mold is a problem in your area then inquire about testing it.

The owners will not be responsible to pay for you to move.
contact your local housing authority/ health dept, building inspectors office for that info, but give the landlord a chance to make it right, andif and when he refuses or wont repair it, then seek legal remedy, chances are that you are not the only one being affected, there are others check with your neighbors in ajoining residential spaces. that would help the property owner a lot to narrow down the problem, he may move you to another residental unit that dosent have that problem whilst fixing yours, and the ensuing rent may be free or reduced if you push the right buttons good luck
tell the landlord - it's his responsibility to fix it
